How to Win Friends and Influence Interviewers

Media reports in late February focused on a tweet by a man called Matt Buckland, who is the Head of Talent for an organisation called Forward Partners.

On 16th February, Matt was on his way to his office in London on the tube when someone somewhat rudely barged past him. When Mr Buckland pointed out that he too was getting off the tube, and that all was required was a little patience, the individual concerned invited him to “go f*** yourself”. Probably a far from uncommon occurrence down there in ‘that London’, but, in this case, what happened next was particularly enjoyable.

When Matt Buckland got to his office, one of the things he had to do that day was to interview someone who was applying for a job. And the man who came in for the interview was ... with delicious irony ... the man from the tube.

Karma - the guy who pushed past me on the tube and then suggested I go F myself just arrived for his interview...with me...

He didn’t get the job.
