From Thursday 1st October 2015, the adult rate of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) will rise by 20 pence from £6.50 to £6.70 per hour.
The National Minimum Wage is the minimum pay per hour almost all workers are entitled to by law.
It doesn’t matter how small an employer is, they still have to pay the minimum wage. The minimum wage rate depends on a worker’s age and if they’re an apprentice.
From today, the National Minimum Wage rates will be:
- Standard (adult) – up to £6.70 from £6.50
- Workers aged 18-20 – up to £5.30 from £5.13
- Young workers – up to £3.87 from £3.79
- Apprentices – up to £3.30 from £2.73
