Construction
Our construction department advises developers, contractors, sub-contractors and professionals on all aspects of construction law.
We act on behalf of both regional and national companies and we have been involved in various multi-million pound projects across the UK.
Our non-contentious team is led by Chris Groves. Its work includes:
- Drafting construction and engineering contracts including amendments to standard forms (including JCT 2005 and NEC)
- Professional appointments and sub-appointments
- Surety documents
- Collateral warranties and third party rights clauses
- Deeds of novation
- Letters of intent
- All construction aspects of development agreements, agreements for lease, leases, finance and construction bonds
- Planning and infrastructure matters including drafting and advising on statutory agreements (e.g. Section 38, 104 and 106 Agreements)
- Advising on CDM Regulations.
Our contentious team is led by Matthew Fletcher and specialises in dealing with Adjudications, Arbitrations and Court proceedings. We have recently been involved in a number of high value disputes where we have secured extremely favourable results on behalf of our clients. Many of these cases have been reported in the Law Reports. We always aim to achieve a commercial solution to disputes and, where appropriate, use mediation to minimise costs.
We run regular free construction law breakfast briefings. Past topics have included: collateral warranties, legal analysis of claims for delay, practical aspects of managing project delay and adjudication case reviews.
Please contact Emma Moore or Liz Allen if you would like to be advised of future briefings.
