Inheritance Tax and Probate Seminar, 31 March 2017

On 6th April 2017, HM Revenue and Custom’s Residential Nil Rate Band comes into force. This new structure, in theory will allow a total tax free sum of £1 million to be passed to the next generation. However there are of course, several requirements to follow to ensure the relief does not get denied or is not available at all.

To keep up to date with the latest changes, IFA's and Financial Service Professionals are invited to join us for a free Inheritance Tax and Probate Seminar on 31 March 2017 presented by Wills and Probate partners, Paul Mounce and Stephen Walker.

This event will provide a practical overview of the forthcoming legislation, the steps you will need to take and the pitfalls you need to be aware of, so that their clients can benefit from this relief and not fall foul of the new rules.

We will also advise on the government proposal for a new Grant of Probate Fee regime which will see a dramatic increase to Probate fees from May 2017. This will remove the current fixed fee of £155 and replace it with a new scale fee based on the value of the estate which will see fees of anywhere from £300 - £20,000!!!

It is key that clients are aware of this change so that appropriate planning can be discussed and so they do not attempt to get around the new rules and inadvertently cause bigger problems to be resolved.
