“Litigation can be drawn out, time consuming and emotional for clients, so dealing with matters as efficiently and effectively as possible is key. It’s all about making the client’s life easier and taking the weight off their shoulders. I get great satisfaction when a matter is resolved satisfactorily and the client can then move on to other matters.”
Abigail was born in Hull and studied at Hymers College. After completing her A-Levels, she took a gap year, during which she was an au pair in France for three young children. Abigail went on to graduate from Queen’s University Belfast with a BA (Hons) in French and Philosophy. She then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law with commendation and the Legal Practice Course with distinction at the College of Law, York.
Abigail joined us in November 2011 as a Paralegal before spending two very successful years as a Trainee Solicitor. Abigail qualified in 2014 and accepted a permanent position within the litigation department of the firm where she specialises in non-contentious and contentious construction matters.
Abigail advises clients on a wide range of construction disputes and issues, she also regularly drafts collateral warranties and amendments to building contracts.
She has also delivered in-house training seminars to clients on a variety of construction-related topics.
“Don’t leave seeking legal advice to the last minute with the view to cutting costs. It will do the opposite. It’s also important to remember that the most legally sound advice is not necessarily the best commercial advice for the client. The wider commercial impact must be taken into account.”
Outside of work Abigail is a keen runner and will be running the 2017 London Marathon to raise funds for Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.
All funds raised will go straight to Hull and East Yorkshire Mind. Please see her donations page for more information: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AbigailMilner – any donations you feel able to give would be gratefully received.
She is also a supporter of the England Rugby (union) Team (now that the Rugby World Cup is over!) and spends her Sunday mornings helping coach girls’ rugby at Hull Ionians.
