Born and raised in Hull, Mark joined Gosschalks as the Head of Family Law in February 2015 bringing with him more than 20 years' experience in handling divorce cases and family law proceedings and is a Professional Practice Consultant.
Mark is highly skilled in all aspects of divorce, relationship breakdown and children’s law, and has a particular expertise in resolving complex financial disputes. He is a well known and well respected figure in the Family courts where he has considerable advocacy experience.
A real ‘people person’, Mark’s trustworthy and down-to-earth character puts clients at ease from the outset. His skilful ability to quickly assess their situation provides realistic and sensible advice that ensures everything is taken into consideration when reaching a settlement.
Mark is an accredited specialist of Resolution in the areas of Advanced Financial Provision and Private Children Law, and has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives since 1997. He qualified as a CILEx Advocate in 2000 and is a Chartered Legal Executive Advocate member of the Law Society’s Family Law Accreditation Scheme. He is also a qualified mediator, and is accredited by the Legal Aid Agency to undertake children issues, property/financial issues and ‘All Issues’ mediation.
“I often deal with highly emotional family law and private client issues and it is my job to help advise families during some of the most upsetting and traumatic times of their lives. I stress from the outset that it is far better, not only for the client but also any children, to resolve matters by agreement if at all possible. I work with them to provide a clear, sensible, fair and dignified outcome by the most appropriate methods based on their individual needs and objectives.”
Away from work Mark is a keen footballer and still plays in the East Riding County League for FC Ridings and the Hull Veterans League. He is also a self-confessed petrol head. He enjoys anything to do with cars and motorbikes, and likes nothing better than travelling up and down the country (and on occasion to the USA) to watch motor sports whenever time allows.Return to the people page »
