Having joined the firm in 1997, Steve became the first full-time member of our IT Department and has been primarily responsible for the firm’s technology development ever since. In 2011, Steve took on a revised role leveraging both his entrepreneurial skills and his many years of technology experience to further engage in the structured development of the firm and our service delivery model.
"You can’t deliver the right technology or development strategy if you don’t fully understand how a business operates, the culture within that organisation and where it is planning to go in the future - I enjoy that bit. Technology should add value, complement core values and wrap around the requirements of a business, not the other way around. That’s why my role makes absolute sense".
Throughout his time with the firm, Steve has brought to bear many new and innovative solutions ensuring that Gosschalks is able to compete with the very best law firms in the UK. In his new role Steve is able to focus more time and attention on the wider development aspects of the firm and its clients.
“I’ve never been into the latest and greatest technology just for the sake of it. Technology only interests me when it can be used as a platform for improvement. Whether that’s improving our performance or helping to deliver a whole new level of service to our clients. One of things I enjoy most about my job is finding solutions to problems that our clients didn't realise they had”
Steve is full of natural enthusiasm for everything he becomes involved with and he currently sits on the firms Management Committee, the Staff Committee and the Business Development steering group.
“Being involved at the heart of the firm means I get to fully understand our business, our people, our industry sector as well as the markets and clients we serve. This provides the perfect grounding upon which to develop innovative and more effective solutions.”
Steve also manages Gosschalks award winning Community Engagement Programme which he established in 2011, working closely with our charity partners The Smile Foundation. He is the former chair of the Young Enterprise (Humber North) Area Board and is also a founding member of Business Springboard. In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, watching Hull City, playing golf (badly) and is a keen endurance cyclist, often engaging in long distance charity challenges that tend to double in distance after a few pints during the first planning meeting!
