Gosschalks nominated for Hull Daily Mail Community Involvement Award

Gosschalks is delighted to announce it has been nominated for the Community Involvement Award as part of the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2014.

The Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2014 is one of the main events in East Yorkshire’s business calendar. It will celebrate companies and employers of all sizes in the region – from start-ups and entrepreneurs to East Yorkshire’s biggest businesses.

This year’s 14 categories include Training and Development, Innovation and Technology, Green Award, Business of the Year (Small, Medium and Large), Employee of the Year, Lifetime Contribution and Community Involvement.

The Community Involvement Award will go to a business that ‘can show proactive commitment to putting something back into the local community.’ This could include ‘providing financial support to community projects; giving practical help such as time or expertise; and allowing charity organisations, schools or community groups to benefit from the resources of the business.’

While Gosschalks works with many outstanding local charities, the Smile Foundation became its main partner and moved into its offices on a complimentary basis. It was a move that completed the picture for both parties, as Smile needed business support to further develop and Gosschalks needed Smile's expertise and experience in community support.

Now Gosschalks thoroughly embraces the Smile Foundation. Gosschalks covers Smile's main operational overheads to ensure its delivery is as cost-effective as possible. It also donates skills, time and financial support to a wide range of initiatives that Smile manages. Since partnering with Gosschalks, Smile's financial impact on the local community has exceeded £1m.

Jim Dick, Chairman and Founder of the Smile Foundation, said:

"Gosschalks plays a huge part in our success. They walk alongside us with every step we take. Without their support, we would not be able to achieve such wonderful outcomes here in Hull and East Yorkshire.”

Gosschalks’ Business Development Director, Steve Savage, comments:

“It's great to receive such high profile recognition for our commitment to our local community. Our community engagement is wide-ranging and is something all our staff enjoy being part of.

“Congratulations and the best of luck to all the other shortlisted finalists on what is always an enjoyable evening celebrating the success of the local business community.”

The winners for each of the 14 categories will be announced at the celebration dinner at the Willerby Manor Hotel on Thursday 20th November 2014.
