Take advantage of Will Aid’s Make a Will Month this November with Gosschalks
Gosschalks is once again participating in the national initiative Will Aid by offering to draw up simple wills for free this November.
Will Aid is a will-writing drive held every November.
Every year, solicitors from across the UK offer free, professional advice in the hope that clients will then make a donation to the Will Aid charities.
The suggested donation level is £95 for a single basic will, or £150 for a pair.
The money raised will be shared by Will Aid charities to help transform the lives of people in the UK and around the world.
The scheme supports nine of the UK’s best-loved charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save The Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers and Trocaire. And has raised more than £17 million since it launched more than 25 years ago.
New statistics, compiled as part of a poll by Will Aid, found that nearly half of Britons still don't have a will, meaning they get no say in who their assets will be passed on to when they die.
Unsurprisingly, it revealed that young people are the least likely to have made a will. But an incredible 19% of people aged 55 and over haven’t either.
Another startling statistic was that 35% of people without a will have dependent children and have not assigned guardians for them.
“The appointment of guardians in a will is extremely important. If something happens to both parents who haven’t made a will, it could lead to the courts and social services getting involved.
“This only adds to the heartache for the child, so it's best to make sure arrangements are in place.”
Will Aid Month’s aim is to encourage people to complete this vital piece of paperwork and tick it off the to-do list – as well as a chance to raise much-needed funds for charity.
