About Steve…

Having joined the firm in 1997, Steve became the first full-time member of our IT Department and has been primarily responsible for the firm’s technology development ever since.

In 2011, Steve took on a revised role to better leverage his commercial acumen, creative skills and his many years of technology experience to further engage in the structured development of the practice and our service delivery model.

"You can’t deliver the right technology or development strategy if you don’t fully understand how a business operates, the culture within that organisation, where it is planning to go in the future and how it plans on getting there - I enjoy that bit. Technology should add value, complement core values and wrap around the requirements of a business, not the other way around. That’s why my role makes absolute sense".

Throughout his time with the firm, Steve has brought to bear many new and innovative solutions ensuring that Gosschalks is able to compete with the very best law firms in the UK. In his role Steve is able to focus time and attention on the wider development aspects of the firm and its clients. An example being the concept, development and ongoing management of our industry leading licensing compliance software, used by a number of major operators including two of the 'big four' supermarket chains, national retailers and cinema operators who use it daily to manage their licensed estates with ease.

“I’ve never been into the latest and greatest technology just for the sake of it. Technology only interests me when it can be used as a platform for improvement. Whether that’s improving our performance or helping to deliver a whole new level of service to our clients. One of things I enjoy most about my job is finding solutions to problems that our clients didn't realise they had.”

Steve is full of natural enthusiasm for everything he becomes involved with and he currently sits on the firms Management Committee and is part of a four-person strategy team focussed on the ongoing development of the firm.

Steve is a big believer in supporting those less fortunate and is responsible for Gosschalks award winning Community Engagement Programme which he established in 2011 working closely with our charity partners The Smile Foundation . He is a member of the Humber LEP Digital Board, a former chair of the Young Enterprise (Humber North) Area Board and was a a founding member and the Chair of Business Springboard. He also manages our relationship as a Key Partner of For Entrepreneurs Only.

Other interests:

In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with his two children, DIY, watching Hull City, coaching junior football and is known to engage in long distance charity cycle challenges that tend to double in distance after a few pints during the first planning meeting!
