Commercial Property Solicitor or CILEX - 1–3 years PQE

For decades we have been advising some of the largest pub companies and licensed operators in the industry.

We are now seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our busy Pub Team.

You will work closely with a team of three partners, a solicitor, a trainee solicitor, and a paralegal. While prior experience in the pub and leisure sector is not essential, a solid grounding in general commercial property is required.

Commercial Property Solicitor or CILEX 5 years + PQE

Our team supports clients of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK including a number of major PLCs. We also have an enviable local client base and a very strong client retention ratio.

We're looking for individuals with experience in:

  • Landlord and tenant
  • General property estate management
  • Refinancing
  • Agriculture

The majority of the partners within the team trained with the firm so there is opportunity for career growth to individuals who demonstrate strong aptitude, a solid work ethic, and a personality that aligns well with our values.

Secretary– Commercial Property

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our busy property team, supporting our fee earners in delivering exceptional service to our clients.

You will have experience of working within a property team. Duties include:

  • Completing digital dictations using Bighand
  • Receiving telephone calls and enquiries from clients and third parties and responding to queries as appropriate
  • Preparing outgoing post to include printing/scanning/copying
  • Making Land Registery enquiries

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (an hour for lunch) The role is based at our office in the centre of Hull

Paralegal – Contentious Probate Team

Gosschalks are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join a dynamic regional team handling high stakes inheritance and estate disputes.

Duties to include:

  • Drafting correspondence, including formal Letters of Claim and Letters of Response
  • Preparing court proceedings, Larke v Nugus requests, Caveats and Warnings
  • Producing lists of documents and hearing bundles
  • Investigating other sides’ disclosure and preparing summaries
  • Systematically reviewing medical records, bank statements and Will files for reports to lead fee earners
  • Legal Research
  • Telephoning courts, opponents and Counsel
  • Producing initial recommendations of courses of action
  • Handle new enquiries, liaise with beneficiaries/executors and support the team on active disputes

The ideal person will have/be:

  • Strong academics
  • Organised
  • Ability to empathise and reassure lay clients in sensitive family circumstances
  • Determination to see tasks to conclusion within fixed deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Accurate with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently but also with the wider team
  • A commitment to learn about Contentious Probate in the long-term
  • Must be proficient with IT and have good working knowledge of Microsoft packages

Experience:

It is essential that the applicant has at least 1 year of experience of working in a law firm. Ideal candidates will have had past experience running their own caseload or, at least, of providing substantive contributions to the billable work of lead fee earners. Experience with litigation work is a strong preference and prior involvement in inheritance disputes, will challenges or estate administration conflicts is a significant advantage. The role would suit someone who is in a similar role or is seeking to build on their existing experience of working in the legal sphere.
