Solicitor Apprentice

Gosschalks is proud to run a highly successful training programme, and as the firm continues to grow, we’re excited to announce that we will be recruiting a Solicitor Apprentice to join us in September 2026.

This is a six-year programme and study will be completed through BPP University Law School with a day per week allocated to your ‘off-the-job’ training. For further information about the course please click here

Changes to Level 7 apprenticeship funding

From January 2026 funding for Level 7 Apprenticeships has been removed. Funding will continue for new Level 7 apprentices who at the start of the apprenticeship are:

  • Aged 16 to 21 or
  • Under 25 and either a care leaver or have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications outside of this funding criteria.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Fit into one of the age categories given above
  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) results: A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English
  • Have predicted A-Level grades (or equivalent): a minimum of three A-Levels predicated at grades A-C (equivalent to 128 UCAS points)

Please note: Any formal offer of a Solicitor Apprenticeship will be conditional upon achieving three A-Levels (or equivalent) at grades A–C (128 UCAS points).

Licensing Administrator

We're on the lookout for a Licensing Administrator to add to our bustling team. Ideally, you'll bring prior experience from a fast-paced office environment, demonstrating attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills, and the versatility to collaborate both independently and seamlessly with colleagues and clients alike.

Whilst experience in alcohol licensing is preferred, you can rest assured we'll provide comprehensive training and support for the right candidate if you are new to the sector.

This exciting, fast-paced role is based at our conveniently located city centre office, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (an hour for lunch).

Commercial Property Solicitor or CILEX - 1–3 years PQE

For decades we have been advising some of the largest pub companies and licensed operators in the industry.

We are now seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our busy Pub Team.

You will work closely with a team of three partners, a solicitor, a trainee solicitor, and a paralegal. While prior experience in the pub and leisure sector is not essential, a solid grounding in general commercial property is required.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Commercial Property Solicitor or CILEX 5 years + PQE

Our team supports clients of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK including a number of major PLCs. We also have an enviable local client base and a very strong client retention ratio.

We're looking for individuals with experience in:

  • Landlord and tenant
  • General property estate management
  • Refinancing
  • Agriculture

The majority of the partners within the team trained with the firm so there is opportunity for career growth to individuals who demonstrate strong aptitude, a solid work ethic, and a personality that aligns well with our values.

Secretary– Commercial Property

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our busy property team, supporting our fee earners in delivering exceptional service to our clients.

You will have experience of working within a property team. Duties include:

  • Completing digital dictations using Bighand
  • Receiving telephone calls and enquiries from clients and third parties and responding to queries as appropriate
  • Preparing outgoing post to include printing/scanning/copying
  • Making Land Registery enquiries

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (an hour for lunch) The role is based at our office in the centre of Hull
